The purpose of the project is to explore relationships between project members with any variant of the spelling of the surname. There are many Speelman/Spielmann/Spealman/Spillman/Spilman/Spellman/Spealmon/Spielmans in the US and abroad.  The purpose of the project is to use DNA testing to determine whether relationships exist between the various lines now found around the U.S. 

There is a special project with the Spielman/Spillman/Spilmans in England who have a tree dating back to Sir William Espileman from 1100.  The DNA study will help to confirm the descendents from this tree.
