There has been a change in the administration of the Stone DNA Surname Project. Joseph Stone who started this group in 2004 has passed away. Gail Ruddenklau-Riddell has volunteered to be an administrator and has updated the Classic and Colorized chart results concentrating on the scientific side of the DNA Project.   Pam Stone Eagleson will continue to maintain the Stone Surname DNA Project results found on the About Us page of the newly designed public website concentrating on the genealogical aspect of the Stone DNA Project.

As of Jul 23, 2016 the Stone DNA Surname Project has 58 distinct Stone groups. With newly developed algorithms some groups have changed. Individuals are placed into groups when the genetic distance of their DNA marker tests make a relevant match. The range of possible generations before you share a common ancestor with a match depends on the level of test you take. Group 11 continues to be the largest group with 18 members. Group 7 is a close second with 16 members.  

The genealogy data listed is what was sent as the earliest known STONE ancestor and IS NOT SOURCED or DOCUMENTED here. It is unknown how accurate it might be. It is only listed as a clue and it is hoped that groups can work together to figure out the relationships and who the common ancestor might be.   Please send Pam (peagleson@roadrunner.com) any changes or update to your earliest known Stone ancestor.
