Sverigeprojektet är ett geografiskt projekt som omfattar alla haplogrupper. Vi har därför inte möjlighet att vara samma specialister som de särskilda haplogruppsprojekten. I projektet sker därför grupperingen av medlemmarna ofta på en lite mer övergripande nivå än vad som sker i haplogruppsprojekten. Vi har ambitionen att gruppera in nya medlemmar och uppdatera befintliga grupperingar i slutet av varje månad.

Sweden DNA Project is a geographical project covering all haplogroups. We may therefore not be able to group all members as detailed as the dedicated haplogroup projects are able to do. Our ambition is to group new members and update existing groupings at the end of each month.

Y-DNA and mtDNA profiles before the year 1750 in Sweden

When a man has two sons whose patrilineal descendants have done matching Y-DNA tests his Y-DNA profile is circled in. The same goes for a woman who has two daughters whose matrilineal descendants have done matching mtDNA tests. John Hamilton, born at the latest in the beginning of the 1610’s (a son of his was born 1635), captain in English service. Two sons came to Sweden and they each have a descendant who has done a Y-DNA test. R1b1a2 (R-M269). All now living barons and baronesses Hamilton af Hageby and counts and countesses Hamiltons are their descendants. The DNA tests prove this branch to belong to another biological line than the Cadzow and Dalserf Hamiltons. The Cadzow Hamiltons belonged to I1a3a (I-L1237) from Sir James Hamilton, 5th of Cadzow (c. 1390–c. 1440).
