About us
This is a study of the DNA of direct descendants of the Forefathers listed on the Swedish Colonial Society website: https://colonialswedes.net/
You MUST BE A DESCENDANT of one of the Forefathers listed on the SCS website to join the SCS DNA Project with a paper trail all the way back to that Forefather.
IF, you are a male with the surname of one of the Forefathers and DO NOT have a paper trail all the way back to the Forefather BUT you are a Y-DNA or Big Y DNA match to a descendant of that Forefather, that qualifies you to join the SCS DNA Project.
Descendants who are male and are a proven (paper trail) direct paternal descendant of one of the Forefathers will take the Y-DNA test. Please take the Big Y test or the 111 Marker Y-STR test.
Descendants who are male and are a proven (paper trail) direct paternal descendant of one of the Forefathers will take the Y-DNA test. Please take the Big Y test or the 111 Marker Y-STR test.
The Y-STR test will establish each Forefather's DNA lineage.
The Big Y test will determine the SNP mutation for a particular ancestor in your direct paternal line back to your Forefather.
Direct paternal descendants may or may not carry the Forefather's surname due to the Patronymic naming system.
Descendants who are male or female and who have one or more of the Forefathers in their ancestry, whether they carry the surname of that Forefather or not, will take the Family Finder test (atDNA).
Descendants who are male or female and who have one or more of the Forefathers in their ancestry, whether they carry the surname of that Forefather or not, will take the Family Finder test (atDNA).
This will identify the Chromosomes that are unique to the Forefathers and Foremothers, their wives.
Descendants who are male or female whether they carry the surname of one of the Forefathers or not, who are a direct maternal descendant of the wife of a Forefather (a Foremother), will take the mtDNA test (Mitochondrial DNA).
Descendants who are male or female whether they carry the surname of one of the Forefathers or not, who are a direct maternal descendant of the wife of a Forefather (a Foremother), will take the mtDNA test (Mitochondrial DNA).
This will determine which mtDNA Haplogroup we can attribute to each Foremother.
