We welcome everybody whose family origin is Switzerland, either through their paternal or maternal lineage, or both. This will help us to understand the origins of all the diverse peoples who make up the Swiss population. If you are male, and have tested only your Y chromosome, you must be able to trace descent from Switzerland through that paternal line. If you have tested your mtDNA, you may also trace descent through your maternal line. If you are female, you must be able to trace descent from Switzerland through your mtDNA line (not your paternal line). If you are female and would like to have your surname in the project, you are encouraged to recruit male relatives who can represent your paternal line with their Y-DNA.
