The Y-DNA of descendants reveals there are three families involved. The project has proven that there is no relationship between the Taliaferro family and the Tolliver/Toliver families. In addition, it has proven that there are two Tolliver families. The descendants of the brothers, Moses, Jesse, Charles, and William do not match the descendants of John. We believe they were in the same household. John swore to the Federal Government that he and his older brothers, Moses and Jesse were in the Revolutionary War together. There is also an old letter written in 1843 that refers to "Old Uncle John" so the families considered themselves related.
