This project is for MALES taking a y-Chromosome DNA (y-DNA) test. (ie y-DNA37, y-DNA111 or the "Big Y" test) and who has one of the surnames listed for our project. Whelan/Whalen/Phelan/Phalen/Fallin or variant of the O'Faolain name. A y-DNA test can indicate whether or not two MEN share a paternal line ancestor The Whalen, Whelan, Phelan (O'Faolain) and variant Surnames are passed on from FATHER to SON like the Y-Chromosome. Females do not carry their father's y-DNA. Females who would like to check their father's direct paternal line can have a male relative with a O'Faolain surname order a y-DNA test to represent their O'Faolain line
