Acadia-Métis Mothers

About us

The first submitter to have a paper lineage going back to one of these disputed métisse mothers had results received in April 2006. His earliest known maternal ancestor was Radegonde Lambert (born about 1621), married to Jean Blanchard. Unfortunately, the results are somewhat disappointing, since his haplogroup shows an X, which while it can sometimes signify North American origin, is also found in Europe and elsewhere. At this time the haplogroup subgroup for Radegonde has been determined as of European origin. Further genetic testing and analysis may clarify whether this European origin was far earlier than Acadian settlement, or concurrent.
