About us
Austin-Austen Family DNA Project
The Austin-Austen DNA project was started by Dr. Michael Edward Austin
in 2003, now deceased, and was jointly sponsored by the
Austin Families Genealogical Society, AFGS and the
Austin Families Association of America, AFAOA.
As of 2011 the project is now totally sponsored by the AFAOA
and the project Administrator is Art Sikes with assistance from
the co-Administrator John Clinard. Both John and Art have
been involved in genealogical research for many years.
We are looking for Austin or Austen’s with documented
families to be included in our DNA project. Use of DNA may
help to establish a possible connection to one of our established
families. Go to the Family Tree DNA Austin-Austen Surname Page
to join the project and sign up for a potential DNA test.
Individuals fund most tests, but some are funded by private
donations to the Austin-Austin DNA Project General Fund.
Donations are gratefully accepted, they can be made
anonymously, in Honor of, by an Individual, or In Memory of.
Donations can also be directed towards a specific family or
group of families. Go to the general fund link to donate by
mail, charge card or PayPal, then select the‘Austin-Austen’ group.
We, AFAOA, now offer free Y-DNA 37 marker testing to selected
Austin families. To see details go to the our website www.afaoa.org.
