Bulgarian DNA Project goals are to gather a DNA database from Bulgarians or descendants of ethnic Bulgarians, as with the men the direct paternal line is studied (father, grandfather, great grandfather, etc.) as well as the direct maternal line (mother, grandmother, great grandmother, etc.), while with the women only the direct maternal line can be revealed. In this project can also participate all the Bulgarians living outside the borders of modern Bulgaria, such as those from Western Thrace, Macedonia, Kraishte (the Western Outlands), Northern Dobrudja, also Banat Bulgarians, Bulgarians from Bessarabia, Ukraine, Russia as well the emigrants living in the USA, Australia, etc. The participation of more people would help to better reveal the genes typical of our ethnos, our origins and the level of relationship between all the project members as well as our migrations back in time.
