The primary goal of this project is to determine the genetic ancestry of those historic "Isleño" families by testing the YDNA and mtDNA of their direct descendants.
 
The secondary goal, even though it does not reveal the DNA of the Isleño families, is to gather persons who indirectly descend from these families in hopes that this may lead to DNA testing of relatives who may be direct descendants therefore furthering the primary goal.
