Bethencourt (kit E15116) – J-M172 (predicted): Middle East origin. Needs further STR and deep clade SNP testing. Likely fits into the J2a-(pre)Sigma cluster and might be L210+ as seen in the J2-M172 project. This haplotype is indicative of possible Jewish ancestry and matches the Cohen Modal Haplotype (CMH-6). Lineage believed to be from the Béthencourt family, conquerors of the Canary Islanders.

Corbello (kit 67207) – R1b-M269 (predicted): Western European origin. Needs further STR and deep clade SNP testing. The frequency of R1b-M269 in Spain is about 69%. Direct line of descent shown by paper trail from the Curbelo lineage of the second family.

Delgado (kit 356739) - R1b-M269 (predicted): Western European origin. Needs further STR and deep clade SNP testing. The frequency of R1b-M269 in Spain is about 69%. Direct line of descent shown by paper trail from the Delgado lineage of the twelfth family.

Cantú (kit 232163) R1b-DF13 (SNP tested to DF13+): Western European origin. Has been SNP tested as DF13+ which is a subclade of R1b-L21. A close match to his haplotype is another Cantú who has tested to L21+ and likely a close relative. Non-direct descent from the Leal Goraz lineage of the first family and other Isleño families.

Falcón (kit 268057) - R1b-M269 (predicted; likely P312+): Western European origin. Non-direct descent from the Travieso lineage of the seventh family.

Garza (kit 172773) – R1b-M269 (predicted): Western European origin. Needs deep clade SNP testing. The frequency of R1b-M269 in Spain is about 69%. Non-direct descent from the Padrón lineage of the fifth family. This haplotype closely matches the genetic signature of the Marcos Alonso de la Garza y Arcón line, a founding family of Monterrey, Nuevo León, México.

Rodríguez - (kit 364884) - I-P37 (predicted): European origin. Non-direct descent from the Rodríguez family or eighth family.

Tarín (kit 16848) – R1b-DF81 (SNP tested to DF81+): Western European origin; found concentrated in Basque Country. Non-direct descent from the Leal Goraz lineage of the first family and other Isleño families.

mtDNA results

Bethencourt (kit E15116) – H: European origin. Haplogroup H is the most common mtDNA haplogroup in Europe. Further HVR2 testing needed.

Cantú (kit 232163) - B4'5: Native American origin.

Falcón (kit 268057) - L3e2b: Central African origin.

Tarín (kit 16848) – I: European origin. Haplogroup I is found at very low frequencies throughout Europe and is believed to have arisen in Eurasia about 30,000 years before present and one of the first haplogroups to move into Europe. Additional testing has shown this haplogroup to be I2. This haplogroup has even been found in an ancient Egyptian mummy.
