Welcome to the Florida Keys DNA Project! This project welcomes anyone who has ancestors who lived in Key West or any other area of the Florida Keys between the time of the Revolutionary War through the time of the Civil War (approximately 1770-1870). It is hoped that the application of genetic genealogy will illuminate family connections and link researchers to origins in New England, the Mid-Atlantic states, Africa, the British Isles and other areas. It is also hoped that Y-DNA and mtDNA analysis will add depth to our understanding of the various haplogroups present in the Keys while enlarging the Family Tree DNA database and providing members with a better insight to their geographic origins and migrations.
