About us

67 Marker Matches: Kits#105023 and 84411 are matched at 67 markers- zero mutations. From the Y-DNA testing we can conclude that Julius Cicero Gregson was the brother of George Gregson of NC and, later, Arkansas. Kits#84411 and 90832 with 1 mutation; Kits#5269 and #84411 with 1 mutation; Kits#5269 and 90832 with 2 mutations; Kits#5269 and #51243 with 4 mutations; Kits#84411 and #51243 with 5 mutations; Kits#51243 and 90832 with 6 mutations.* 37 Marker Matches: Kits#105023, 84411 and 104782 are exact matches Kits #5269 and #84411 with 1 mutation; Kits #84192 and #84411 with 1 mutation. Kits #5269 and #84192 with 2 mutations;

Kits #5269 and #51243 with 3 mutations;

Kits #5269 and #77671 with 4 mutations; Kits #84192 and #77671 with 4 mutations; Kits #51243 and #84192 with 5 mutations*; Kits #81282 and #84192 with 5 mutations*; Kits #82182 and #76771 have 6 mutations*; Kits #51243 and #77671 have 7 mutations*. 25 Marker Matches: Kits #5269, 51243, 77671, 84192 84411.

12 Marker Matches: Kits #5269, 51243, 77671, 84192, 84411.

*Matches with 5 mutations or more are considered fairly distant and it is improbable that the MRCA can be determined. ********************************************************************* *12 marker test results pending for Charles Graston - kit#108390. *67 marker test results posted for kit#105023- a descendant of George and Rachel Holmes Gregson of NC and later, Arkansas. *67 marker test results in for a descendant of George Gregson b. 1730 of Orange, NC through William and Nancy Baker Gregson's son, Baker Gregson. *67 marker test results in for kit#84411, a descendant of Julius Cicero GREGSON b. 1810, NC. *67 marker test results are in for kit #5269, a descendant of William Gregston b. 1822, NC who went to Kentucky. *67 marker test results are in for kit #51243, a descendant of David Gregson b. 1812, Ireland who emigrated to the US in 1849. *37 marker test results are in for kit#84192, a descendant ofEli Gregson b. 1799, NC whose family migrated to Indiana, Texas and Iowa. *37 Marker test results are in for kit#104782, a descendant of Julius Cicero Gregson of North Carolina. *37 marker test results in for kit #77671, a descendant of Gregsonne-Gregson of Lancashire, England. ***37 marker test results are in for Kit# 81282 GRAGG. This line originates with John Gragg or Gregg, b. 1690 in County Antrim, Ireland. Interestingly,there is a two step mutation on the first 12 markers, but it is still considered a 37 marker match to other project members. Usually, if the first 12 don't match, the standard thought is that there will not be a high res match on subsequent markers. This hasn't shown to be the case with this kit. Since it is likely that the Gregson surname evolved from Gragg or Gregg, and the DNA results certainly seem to bear the connection out, this seems a very viable avenue of research. *12 marker tests results posted for kit # N15395. Upgrading the test to 25 or 37 markers is encouraged. This kit is unique to the rest of the project members-it is Haplotype Q. It should prove interesting to track this kit and compare it to future Project participants.
