The purpose of the project is to understand if a commonly-held belief that Gujarati Muslims are of Arab, Mesopotamian, Iranian or Turkic descent is true and to establish how far back in history we have common ancestors. With the current research I've conducted, most of the aforesaid belong to a male haplogroup of J, L or R sub-clades, though there are others. A much more detailed analysis is possible on familytreedna if males take the y-37, y-111 or Big-Y 700 and females take the mtDNA test. This will lead to common ancestors being discovered far into the past beyond any genealogical records. Both males and females are welcome. We have the following objectives: - Regardless of which Muslim group you belong establish who is related to who in the past. - To include as many Muslim groupings as possible here. When subscribing drop the administrator an email to which group you belong. - To establish if any of these Muslim groups converge in the past. - To establish if any of us has links to Mesopotamia, Gulf Arabs, Iranians, Afghans or Turkic Populations.
