A. Identify the original Hamby lineage from the 12^thcentury, if possible, and those related to that lineage.

B. Determine whether Hamby and Hanby and other possible forms are deviant spellings (meaning that they are simply misspellings, but represent common lineages) or actually variants (meaning that they are distinct surnames with distinct origins).

C. Identify the ethnic origins of the various groups of Hambys and Hanbys.

D. Determine the degrees of relatedness of project members to assist them with confirming and working out their ancestral lines.
