About us
The Kilian DNA project is an effort to untangle the family lines of Kilians worldwide by comparing haplotypes (marker values) of certain Y-chromosomes of Kilian males with other Kilian males of similar surnames; Kilian, Killian, Killion, Kilyon. Kiliaen. For instance, if German Kilians' haplotypes matched Irish Kilians' haplotypes, then we would know the German Kilians descend from the Irish St. Kilian who came to Germany towards the end of the 7th century.
To date the Kilian DNA project has established 4 different ancestral lines found among Colonial America’s Kilian families.
As membership in the Kilian DNA project grows it will assist genealogy researchers in identifying, validating and tracing currently known and unknown Kilian lineages to common ancestors.
