About us
Early in 2003, members of the Owsley (Ousley, Housley) family began utilizing genealogy by genetics in search of their ancestry or to confirm their ancestry.
The first three participants (#7794, #7795 and #7796) volunteered to participate in this DNA Project, which was sponsored by the Owsley Family Historical Society. The goal was to help confirm that Robert Owsley and Joseph Owsley were sons of John Owsley II (1757-1845) of Claiborne County, Tennessee. The participants utilized the DNA Y-Chromosome 25-marker test with Family Tree DNA.
The first DNA testing in the Owsley Surname DNA Project proved to be a great success!!
