The main goal of this DNA Project is to make available the use of genealogy by genetics as a tool to assist family members in search of their Owsley ancestry or to confirm their Owsley ancestry. (NOTE: Participants must be direct male Owsley descendants for utilization of the Y-Chromosome DNA testing.) The Owsley Surname DNA Project utilizes FAMILY TREE DNA for our DNA testing. The use of the Y-DNA 37 Marker DNA test for our Project Members is preferred.

We would like to extend an invitation for members of all branches of the Owsley family to join this DNA Project.

Examples:

(1.) Descendants of Thomas Owsley III and Mary Middleton (The "Kentucky" branch of the Owsley family).
(2.) Descendants of Newdigate Owsley and Mary Ann ________ (The "Georgia" branch of the Owsley family).
(3.) Descendants of Weldon Owsley and Sarah ________.
(4.) Descendants of John Owsley I and Ann Stephens (The "Tennessee" branch of the Owsley family).
(5.) Descendants of Owsley families located in England, Australia, and other countries.
(6.) Descendants of other Owsley, Ousley, Ouseley, Housley, Howsley, and Woosley families.

(NOTE: For this project to be successful, the participation of members of all branches of the Owsley family is necessary.)
