About us
October 2015: The Pryor Y-DNA project is seeking a permanent project administrator. The ideal candidate will have experience with both genetic genealogy and Pryor/Prior traditional genealogy.
Please contact janinec @ ftdna. com if you would like to volunteer to assist project members with understanding test results and helping to further their research.
July 2017: We have identified a number of additional variations of the surname Pryor and hope to find many new members to expand on our existing groups. Make sure you check to see if your closest matches are all part of the project so we can help you and them extend their family history and discover the connections of these new cousins.
April 2015: The Pryor Y-DNA Project has more than 60 men who've tested. We are awaiting several test results. The project has also reached out to several men who fit the criteria we requested in December. Your test is is still needed and will assist the project:
Y-DNA TESTERS WANTED: (1) Male Pryor/Prior testers who descend from families known to have lived on the US frontier (OH, TN, WV, KY, VA) just after the American Revolution. (2) Male Pryor/Prior testers who can document their ancestry to Cornwall, England. (3) Male Y-DNA testers who can trace their ancestry to Pryor/Prior families in PA, MD, RI, and DE. (4) Pryor men with ancestry from TN, TX and GA. Unsure about testing? Ask our group administrator. Your test could unlock the mysteries of one of the Pryor lines!

December 2014: The Pryor Y-DNA Project was regrouped into Haplogroup order during the autumn.
Results have been slowly arriving from FTDNA-- we are awaiting results on 8 new Y-DNA tests. We have project members who are actively looking for particular Pryor lines which will add clarity to the results of those who have already tested. More information about test results will be added to the "Results" page (see tab under "About")

June 2014: The Pryor surname group now has more than 50 tests results posted. There are more testers awaiting results which will bring the number of Y-DNA male testers above 60. Not all Pryor lines in the US have tested so testers are still being sought and are appreciated. Vanessa Wood is the new Pryor project administrator. The Y-DNA results have been organized into sub-groups with blue bands separating the groups.
