If two or more tested individuals match closely, then they descend from a common male ancestor. But DNA testing alone cannot identify the specific ancestor. We recommend people in the same group contact each other to compare their family trees for common names and look for ancestors who lived in the same time and place.

We only show last names of the test subject in the results tables. But the name and email address of your matches may be shown on your Y-DNA Matches page at Family Tree DNA. If you wish to contact a member who is not shown in your results, simply send an email to this project's administrator and he will forward it to the email on record for the person you wish to contact.
