We are searching for males who have "princely" surnames, and who suspect that they may be descended from either Rurik or Gedimin. Another group considered for this project are those males who might be descended either from Rurik or Gedimin, but who haven't got "princely" surnames at all. However, from their family tales or legends it follows that it could be so. Currently,it seems that the Rurikid princes did not leave their genes outside their own clan, although some traces can be found, especially in Sweden and on the British Isles which were visited by Vikings ab. the 9^th cent. A.D.

On the other hand, however, by no means is there a similar case with the Gediminid dynasty. Some of the males which seem to be descended from Gedimin(as), are suspected to be descended from lost branches in this dynasty.
