Candace Gregory started the Sandifer Y-DNA Project in October of 2006 with just herself in it. In May of 2008 there were still only 3 members. As of now we have 30+ members of which more than half have taken the FTDNA Big Y test. The Project is now limited to Sandifer variant surnames, including Sanderfer, Sandefur, etc. or closely related matches. Thanks Candace.

On 22 Jan 2009 a Sandifer (Variants) DNA Forum was created by Tarney Smith to allow Sandifer DNA Project members a forum for discussing with each other their “paper trail” genealogies as well as their DNA haplotype data. And hopefully it will allow for new members to review what has been discussed previous to their joining the project. This site is a way for us to stay connected and will allow sharing Sandifer (Variants) related news, photos, files, and more. The forum is a private forum for Sandifer Y-DNA Project members only (and those the members wish to invite as guests). Hopefully all project members will join and share their Sandifer (Variants) “paper trail” genealogies and if they wish discuss their haplotype DNA data. Thanks Tarney.

The Sandifer DNA Project has established a general fund account within Family Tree DNA. Family Tree DNA holds the general funds for each DNA project and provides a donation process for each project. Project Administrators can then use the General Fund in accordance with project goals. To donate funds to the project’s General Fund please click on the blue Donate button on the About Us page of the Sandifer Y-DNA Project site and follow the instructions from there.
