This project will not take the place of your own traditional documentary research, but we hope to provide a companion tool with which to scientifically verify your research, determine relationships,identify a generation where an unknown adoption or extramarital event occurred, establish family lines, and help Connect "Genetic Cousins"....hopefully this project will be able to provide you with the answers to some of your own family mysteries. knowingly we will solve some mysteries and create others, and for those Stockton cousins who don't know where they fit in the Stockton Family Tree, donating DNA to the Stockton Project will help you connect to your "Genetic Cousins"

As this is an ongoing DNA project that will be expanding with each new DNA donor, we hope to expand this project to include all variants of the Stockton surname, such as, Stoughton, Stogden, Stocken and Stocton. Participation from our Stockton cousins in the United Kingdom has provided a genetic bridge across the water and will be a valuble resorce for our English and Irish cousins to trace their Stockton ancestors that may have emigrated to the United States, also providing additional genetic pools and ancestors for us to discover
