The focus of this project is on Thomas Rogers of the Mayflower and identifying the Y-DNA haplogroup which is unique to his family as found in his direct line male descendants. Project participation will be limited males who believe they are descended from Thomas Rogers of the Mayflower in a strict patrilineal (all male-line) descent. The Big Y-700 DNA profile for Thomas Rogers has been established within the Mayflower DNA Project based on a number of members who have fully documented their genealogy back to Thomas Rogers of the Mayflower and who share related terminating SNP. Some of the members are also approved applicants of the General Society of Mayflower Descendants and/or the Thomas Rogers Society. Results of this project will be used to assist kit members who match the baseline Thomas Rogers Big Y-DNA SNP profile with finding genealogy proofs that will help support their direct line Thomas Rogers’ ancestral relationship.This project will also help identify Thomas Rogers’ more distant ancestors in the United Kingdom and beyond.
