About us
The Viking Y-DNA Project is open to any Y chromosome with a predicted or confirmed ancestor of a background linked historically with a Viking/Invader population. The project participants use a Y-DNA test ordered via FTDNA to determine their Y-DNA signature. Tests of 12 and 25 markers will be accepted, but you are encouraged to test for or upgrade to tests of 37 or 67 markers for the purposes of clarity of results.
The first purpose of the project is to clarify individual family origins, and the second purpose is to create a map of the migratory patterns of the ancient Germanic tribes.
