About us
All Muellers (or any variation of Müller) who are interested in working together to find their common heritage through sharing of information and DNA testing are welcome. We welcome equally those who carry the name and those with different surnames who carry the DNA.
We were originally founded as a y-DNA surname project, but welcome other descendants who have Family Finder results or mitochondrial DNA (mtDNA results) and share your Mueller ancestral tree.
This project is intended for those whose ancestry is from the German-speaking areas of Europe, even if their name was later anglicized. All variant spellings are welcome. (If your Miller ancestors were from Great Britain, please join the Miller project.)
To participate meaningfully, testees will need to share their Mueller ancestry back to the earliest known Mueller (or similar spelling) ancestor on FTDNA's "myFamilyTree" (excluding living persons).
The Mueller Project is a voluntary collaborative effort based on the principle that genetic genealogy requires comparing your results and your trees with your matches. Our goal is to identify the various Mueller lineages, promote better understanding of Mueller genetic genealogy by comparing results and trees of members with their matches, and enable members to benefit from the insights and guidance provided by our volunteer administrators. We ask that all members respect this mutually synergistic approach and share your Mueller-line results and trees with your matches and the project administrators. By sharing what we discover, we can all learn more about our Mueller genetic heritage.
