About us

The Pring Project is open to all Pring Family or think they may be. 48 members in Project as at Dec 2023. Some may not be visible to the public, however all are to members. I have been correlating some information about Prings who have the male Pring line YDNA from through the ages. There are about one third of those Prings tested who no longer have the Pring YDNA in their family, usually due to a female Pring who had a child with an unknown father. The Haplogroup changes may give you some idea of when we may have had the invention of the name Pring or maybe the Single Nucleotide Polymorphism (SNP) which caused a Haplogoup change through the ages. (A Haplogroup is a group of people who have the same SNP's until there is a variation occur and the Haplogroup and its name changes. There are about 1,500,00 SNP's checked for each individual to see when a variation might occur.) Haplogroups change at unknown intervals and generally average around 80 years, however my nearest Haplogroup member and myself have a common ancestor around 1740 or earlier, with no Haplogroup change in that time frame on some members of the family. An example of a Haplogroup change occurred when one of my grandfather's brothers had a DNA change (SNP) and his line therefore had a Haplogroup change, however the other brothers did not have any change and their lines have continued on through the generations, even down to one of my second cousin's grandsons. The Block Tree show roughly how long ago a SNP occurred, with two people who have tested and different surnames. One is Warren K Mitchell at around 15 generations ago and another is John Carr around 19 generations ago, which would approximate 1200 to 1520 years ago, however they may also be Prings, so who knows. Haplogroups of the Prings and the passage of relatives at around 1500 BC from France to England, may or not be associated with Luche-Pringe in NW France. All Pring Haplogroups originated from the same group in history. When that was is uncertain and may come to light in the next few decades. There is always new information coming along, which is one of the reasons I have had to recently change my family tree that I have had for about 30 years as BigY has given me information to confirm where I came from.
